Hi Br0wnie, we have met before but I'm not sure if you remember me!

Your doctor didn't give you very much background info. Of coarse, talking to alot of other girls here, they didn't give any of them very much info and make it seem ok after a proceedure is done to go have regular unprotected or protected sex again. Many questions can be answered by asking your doctor but then again, many you have to learn from those who are living through it as well. So it is good you are here asking questions. You have cervical HPV so it is in best interest to use protection during intercoarse even after the abnormalties have been removed. HPV is never gone from the body. It is a virus, and like herpes, can not be cured. It will lay dormant in the body and you can have a reoccurance. My advice is to keep using protection and have a few more paps (you should have to go every 4-6 months) and if your paps remain normal then they can again if you choose to have unprotected sex. There are cases of hpv being transmitted orally, although vary rare it does occure. HPV can be transmitted even if nothing is visible. That is why I say to wait for a few more paps before being unprotected. I don't know why they didn't tell you about scaring...they should have told you about the side effects but from now on....ask if there are any risks! If you have any questions....just ask!
