Okay, so.. First off. I'm circumsized, I'm 17 years old. Lately, I've been masturbating a LOT. Like, 2-4 times a day. I don't think that's healthy, so... Yeah. I use lubricant, except I'm weird... I use my saliva. Or if I'm in the shower, soap. The soap irritates my skin, I guess, because when I used to do it before (about 3 years ago), this one spot kept getting red.

Well, about 2 days ago I noticed a bump under my shaft, a tiny one. That place that always got irritated. I still carelessly used soap. Now it's... A big bump. Skin colored, but red around it. There is a slight tingling sensation, but only on the bump itself--Nowhere else on the genital area.

Well, I never had vaginal sex, but I had oral with my girlfriend. She's the first person I ever kissed or was sexual with, and especially the first person that I had oral is. She never kissed anyone before, either, nor did anything else. I know this is true for a fact.

So, my question is... Is this herpes? It's sorta itching right now, but I won't touch it. It's skin colored, a little redness around it, a little itchy... It's not small, but it's not that big...

Oh, and my mom frequently gets cold sores on her mouth, but she kisses my dad all the time and he doesn't have it. I asked if there is a history of herpes in the family, and there isn't.

So, what's going on? Is this an ingrown hair? From what I read in other topics, it sounds like it. But I'm still scared. Please, help. I'd feel a lot worse giving my girlfriend herpes than actually having them. =/

There's really no way to say just what it is. Maybe it's an irritated spot from all the masturbation. Maybe it's an infected hair follicle. I suppose it could be Herpes that she transmitted to you through oral sex, but there's no way to say for sure. You need to go see your doctor and have him/her check out the spot. If the spot is already gone, they can do a blood test to see if you have HSV or Herpes. If you're too embarrassed to visit your family doctor, please find out where your local clinic (often called Planned Parenthood) is in your city and make an appointment. They'll often treat people for very little money or no money at all. And they won't tell your parents about it. And don't worry about showing the Planned Parenthood folks your privates. These folks have seen everything and it would be nearly impossible to shock or embarrass them! No matter what it is, don't worry. If it's Herpes, it won't kill you. It won't affect your ability to have kids. It doesn't mean the end of your sex life.
