| Re: abnormal pap?
Hi angelgrl please try not to worry too much. It is very very rare that a pap actually shows cervical cancer, it shows changes that if left untreated MAY eventually lead to cervical cancer. I am presuming you are also very young as you are still at school, cervical cancer is extremely rare in women under the age of 20.
Simple inflammation or an infection can cause your pap to come back abnormal. Anything that changes the appearance of your cells (even a temporary one) will cause an abnormal result.
I know how you are feeling, I had an abnormal pap and am waiting for my repeat one and it does make me anxious. You must remember though, even if pre-cancerous cells have been found, they are NOT cancer, and they can be treated to prevent you ever getting cervical cancer. x
