I think you might be overstating things a bit. In fact, many cases of cervical cancer CAN be cured. I really don't think you can compare HPV and HIV. HPV is much less serious and much more common. Up to 80% of people will come into contact with genital HPV at some point, while less than 2% of the population (here in the US) has HIV.
Far less than 1% of the people infected with HPV will ever get cervical cancer, and of those, very few will actually die from it, as cervical cancer is highly curable. In contrast, HIV is the 9th leading cause of death (again here in the US).
Again, I really don't think it is fair to compare the two. I have HPV, and I am sure that any AIDS patient would give anything to be able to trade with me.
