Greetings,

Are Chlamydia and gonorrhea' symptoms always present?

Can someone be infected for years without knowing it and all of the sudden possess some syptoms?

since I had never been infected with STD, I don't really know what to look for, in terms of symptoms and if I could have been infected for years without even noticing it!

I was diagnosed with Chlamydia last week.. I had symptoms but the doctor said that it is possible to have it without showing symptoms. My sympts were (and still are after the meds!), small clear discharge from the urethra & a burning tingling pain while urinating. Im going back next week to retest but Im presuming I still have it as I still have discomfort when going to the tiolet.

No and Yes. It is quite common for people infected with chlamydia and gonorrhea to have absolutely NO symptoms of any kind. That is why many people can go months, years, or even longer, without realizing they are infected.

It is quite possible that you have been infected for some time before you noticed any symptoms (and you may never have symptoms). This is why it is so important to be tested regularly.
