Chlamydia-Important QUESTION - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

Okay...well I slept with someone and about 2 weeks later I started having severe pain down below. Everytime I would pee- I felt like I still had to go and I was just IN PAIN....( NOW just prior to the pain I had my anual pap...in which I was informed I had an abnormal pap result, and was then scheduled for another apointment.) And when they told me I had an abnormal pap..they HAD NOT gotten the other results back yet...SO BACK to the pain..I went to another doctor the other day and they said it sounds like a kidney infection and gave me antibiotics...and ONE day after that.. the other doc calls and says.. YOU HAVE CHLAMYDIA.......(gee nice that they told me after I had already been somwhere else)..okay anywho... I got 4 pills for the chlamydia and that is supposed to knock it out...well okay lets hope it does BUT MY QUESTION IS, could the abnormal pap..really just be the chlamydia? They said it could be the reason but...they want me to get a colopcsy ( something like that) to see if I have any abnormal cells on my cervix...( has anyone ever had this done?
And also anyone else who has had Chlamydia..did you smell really bad down there..because I have and it just makes me SICK and when you took the antibiotics..did they usually help cure it?
SOrry if this has been confusing..im just a mess lately about everything. Thanks for anyones advice!!

well i can tell you my sister had the clap and she was pg they gave her zithromax and yes it cured it she also had abnormal paps and the closcapy (sp sorry) and i went with her its not that bad they just take a bit of skin off your cervex then test it for cancer or pre cancer the worse part of it was the thing they open you with her and i hate that part its the same as the pap it's self just under a dif room

I had Chlamydia about 23 years ago. Didn't know I had it and didn't have any symptoms that I can remember. Did find out it had closed my fallopion tubes and I couldn't have babies. Once it was found and cleared up, I was pregnant! I may have had what you are experiencing and it just wasn't as severe. Could be what gave you the abnormal pap, but I would let the doctor check for anything else. Can't be too careful.

The colposcopy isn't that bad, as has been mentioned. It's just like a regular exam, except when they snip a bit of your cervix, which they'll warn you about. In most cases, HPV causes abnormal PAPs, but there's only one way to find out.

(btw, livelife34711, "The clap" is actually Gonorrhea, not chlamydia.)
