i think i've posted this reply to this same question, maybe it was a question from you! but here it is anyway:
aldara worked incredibly well for me. when i found out i had hpv, i changed my diet (ate healthier, more fruits and veggies), took vitamins regularly (C,E, and calcium because every woman needs more of that!) and started running 1-3 miles each day, sometimes followed by a short work-out. aldara is designed to make your immune system stronger, it brings in a response from your immune system to the affected area and that's how it works- it doesn't literally burn them off, but holy crap, it burns so much!!!! it is the itchiest, most uncomfortable feeling you'll ever experience. but with all my my new habits and aldara, my warts were noticeably smaller in a week: the little ones were completely gone within 3 weeks, and the bigger one was gone within 6-7 weeks. i only had to use one treatment (and thank God, because it is so expensive!!)
a tip: the directions say to throw out each application. i did that at first and then i started saving them because i was throwing away a perfectly good application- i asked a doctor about this and she said there was no problem doing what i did. i know there are side effects, but i don't think they are much to worry about. i started experiencing monthly spotting when i found out i had hpv/started using aldara. i thought it was a side effect, but i think it was my body dealing with great stress. i think one side effect is dry, peeling skin. i think if you experience this, wait another day or 2 before your next application. if you google it, there are plenty of sites that list specific side effects.
when you use it, your going to want to itch yourself until you bleed. so maybe take a sleeping aid to help you fall asleep- there will be less time to feel the itching when you're awake! when you do itch though, i tried to just "stab" my skin with my nails- don't scratch it! and be careful that you don't get any on the inside of your vagina, because it's harder to wash off.
hope that helps, good luck!!!
