i went to the hospital today for the sores i have on my vagina...doc did a visual, said he thinks that they are herpes took a swab to find out what kind (one or two) they are and said i would know in a week or so. i just have some questions

this is my first outbreak, how long is this going to last for? it really really REALLY hurts and i dont know what to do about the pain? my boyfriend and i have unprotected sex(i have never had any sympotms of this or any other std) and i was wondering how possible is it that hes got it too? or possibly he gave it to me? hes got cold sores on his mouth, so i know thats type one, so i am assuming i have that on my mouth as well, just havent had a sore there yet...so is it also possible that we both have the type 2 as well? we have been having sex for about 4 months or so. we have already talked about the fact that i may have herpes(this is a few days into my outbreak now) and he told me that he didnt care, and if hes got it already hes okay with that. that love isnt conditional and he would never leave me because of this or if he had it, because if hes got it too then we both dont know where we got it or who gave it to who.....anyway thanks for reading this...any tips on how to deal with the pain...especially while using the washroom(both kinds)

one last question...ive been readin on here and people say they take one or 2 valtrex tablets a day...my doc gave me a precsription for 2 tablets 3 times a day for 5 days.....is this lots?
