I feel like I have made a mistake. I am pretty sure that I have contracted genital herpes and I am wondering if this disease is extremely dangerous or hazardous for my health? So far, I only noticed two bumps on my penis and both look a bit red. Only one of the bumps itch though. Anyway, my girlfriend and I plan to marry so it is not so bad right? But is there any tips you guys can give me on how to handle this and to comfort me?

The two bumps on my penis seem to camoflauge more with the skin color now. Therefore, it is not so red as when I saw it in the shower. Just thought that I should mention that

This doesn't sound like herpes. But to answer your original question, herpes is a major inconvenience I think but, like cold sores, not especially dangerous to your health.
