weird sore... - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

I have been with my bf for about 3 years now. I have had a STD test less than a year ago and all was well. We are eachothers only parters.
Last night I noticed my bf had this sore on the skin about 1 inch above his penis (not actually on his penis) it was red and inflamed looking with kinda a scaby looking sore!! really icky. Anyone know what this could be?

I don't have a clue, but I would suggest that he have a doctor look at it to put both of your minds at ease.

I would do a serch to find out if you can have herpes in that area.Just because it is not on the genitals doesn't mean it isn't an STD.I've heard the only way to really test for herpes to to have a Dr. examine it because if you don't have an outbreak you won't test positive for the virus.It could one of you had it all along and it was dormate.Have you ever had a cold sore before? They're the same virus.Other than that could it be an ingrown hair or zit.Have either of you tried to pop it?

Herpes can be up in the pubic hair area...I think that's what you described. The way you described it sounds like a herpes lesion but of course it could be something else but I can't say to you "no it sounds nothing like herpes". Does this sore ooze clear puss...another sign. Remember or I should say "know" that herpes that we call Cold Sores can be transmitted to the genitals giving someone genital herpes and there doesn't even have to be a sore present on the mouth to spread it to genitals through oral sex. And another sad truth is that herpes isn't usually something that is tested for when you have an STD test done at a clinic. Syphilis, Gonorrhea and HIV are the common tests done and most likely if you didn't ask for a herpes blood test you probably didn't get one. It could very well just be an ingrown hair though. But keep an eye on him and see if this condition comes back or if it lasts longer than the normal ingrown hair(suspicious). Suggest to go to a clinic and ask to both be tested for herpes type 1 and 2.

alright i asked this in another thing too but it is really bothering me so yeah..... a couple days ago i noticed a lil bump on the top of my penis (not the head or nething like on the top idk if u get what i meant but anyway when i first saw it the first thing that came to my was a lil zit or something but ive never had a zit there before n i dont even know if u can get one there so it was bothering me so i tried squeezing it a lil to see if it would pop like a zit it kinda looked like it was goin to but didnt and it turned red and i was jus thinking of other things it could be and it kinda looks like where my pubic hair grows in theres a lil bump looking thing like right where it grows from the skin and it looks like one of those but a lil bit bigger but i did a search on herpes symptoms and commonly mistaken things and one was like ingrown hair follicles or something and i dnt really know what that is either but does anyone have ne ideas?
