Question about Chlamydia. Please help! - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

I was just diagnosed with chlamydia. The doctor gave me 4 pills to take immediately. I told my boyfriend of 9 months about it and he thinks I cheated on him. The thing is he hasnt been tested in almost 5 years. He was diagnosed with chlamydia then. He told his girlfriend at the time and they both went to get cured by drinking something. The doctor told him to abstain for sex for 1-2 weeks. He went ahead and had sex again so he had to get treated twice. Did he ever really get rid of the disease? He said he showed symptoms last time and if he gave it to me he wouldv'e had the same symptoms. I never showed any. Is it possible that this time around he could've been asymptomatic??

Please help!

I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Yes my guess is that he could have been asymptamic given chlamydia infections can be asymptomatic. Did you doctor told you that your fertility could have been affected for having the infection for the 9 months you been with your bf?

Thanks for the advice nightangel. No my doctor did not mention anything about fertility. I looked up a lot of information on the internet and it's a scary thought. The last time I was tested for STD's was Sep of 04. I only had one other partner before my current bf after I was tested and we used protection everytime. He still hasn't been into the doctor to get cured. He's more focused on making me feel like the culprit. I'm still wondering why he's not showing syptoms this time around ?

Most women don't really exhibit any symptoms of chlamydia so, yes, you could have had this for a long time. Many men, too, don't show symptoms, or they ignore and they go away, thought they still have the disease. From the way you describe things, it is likely he gave it to you, with the assumption that indeed you have been faithful. Both of you needs to be treated and to abstain from sex until after treatment.
