Still Worried,expert advice please
This is a very long story but I will try and get the dates correct. Early in 2005 I was on a business trip to Malaysia. Went out with the local guys and had far too much to drink. Anyway at some stage in the night was approached by one of the prostitutes for business. She was very nice and beautiful to look at but I wasn't interested. She was a Thai ladyboy I since found out. Anyway got drunk and she started to get closer, I ended up deep kissing her twice for about 4-5 secs each time. I then did nothing else. My colleugue ended up taking her home and sleeping with her. I woke up the next morning with a slight feeling of relief as I had just kissed her and it could have turned out a lot worse with a few more drinks. My thoughts turned to my colleauge who obviously would not have the same feeling as I. I travelled back home none the worse off confident I had avoided contracting any nasty STD and almost smug that I had resisted the allure of the prostitutes. How wrong one can be...... About 3 days after the event I basically woke up in a pool of sweat. My head was ringing and I was very dizzy and couldn't see properly and was very sensitive to light. These were the worst viral symptoms I have ever experienced. I started to get worried, I was in real trouble with this but didn't want to let on because I was sure I had some STD. Basically I was having some type of viral encephalitis. I never went to a DR in these early stages as I was just too worried about HIV. I was so ignorant as I've since found out. I eventually after about 7 months of these symptoms ended up with one of the best infectious diseases specialists. He basically said I was suffering from Post viral syndrome or CFS. He did not do an HIV test as I didn't tell him about the incident. I ended up doing 4 HIV self tests from Mirates in Europe. Each one came back negative. My last HIV test was done at 14 months from the exposure. I am sure this girl gave me something like CMV or EBV, but the strange thing is my tests came backe negative. Of course that sent the blood pressure through the roof as it could only be HIV right? Anyway I have been doing some more research and am now worried whether syphilis could be contracted by the things I mentioned above? Anyway here I am 18 months down the track with the same symptoms almost from day one. I've learnt my lesson for sure. But I want my health back. Can I have some advice please. Basically my qustions are.
1) Have I ruled out HIV?
2)Do I need to test for syphilis?
3)Do I need to test for anything else?
4)How accurate are these mirates home tests?
