| Girlfriend pregnant, but I'm ready for a vacation
I'll make this short. My girlfriend and I are compatible on several levels, but we are most at odds when it comes to spontaneity and sense-of-adventure. Now, I haven't been on a real vacation for 2 years (which is very uncharacteristic of me) mainly because every time I mention doing something with her, she has an excuse (some legitimate, but not all). She's just not into traveling or doing things besides the normal date type stuff (movies, eating out, bowling, etc.). Or maybe I should say that she can be into it, but she's more concerned about the "what if's" (money, job, etc.) Before, when I didn't have any friends to do something with, I didn't mind doing something by myself. But I guess I cling to the idea that if you're with someone, you're supposed to do these things together.
Here's the dilemma. She is now pregnant, but I just found out about a great deal for Hawaii. I asked her if she'd be interested, but she has decided to take a new job, meaning that she won't have the leave needed at the job when the trip comes around, or for a least a year or two now! I've been very supportive during her pregnancy, but I don't feel like letting anyone hinder me totally from doing the things that I like to do. Do you feel that it'd be selfish to go to Hawaii by myself or with a relative during her pregnancy? I need to get away!
