There is no test as of yet to test a man for HPV unless he has an outbreak in either the throat or genitals. Your boyfriend could of had it and past it to you even with no out breaks. YOu could have gotten it from anyone in your life time. How you got it you will never know.
HPV can stay dormant for years and never have any negative paps or outbreaks.

My older friend in her mid 70's was a virgin till the day she married her husband. They were both around 20. He passed away in her early 70's. Her husband was the only guy she ever had sex with. Until they come up with a cure HPV is becoming as common as a cold. You just never get rid of the germ cells. They can go dormant but you keep them in your body.
