Re: i feel like i ruined him...

HPV is soooooooooooo common. I am sure most of us women have it. I have it and had to have 2 surgeries already. First was a laser surgery and then about 10 years later, I had to have part of my cervix removed. My husband has it too. I know it must seem like the end of the world but most important, just go for your yearly paps and you should be fine.

Keep your chin up, you didn't ruin him. Just part of life...the not so good part of life, but life.

Re: i feel like i ruined him...

How do you know your boyfriend has it? Does he have warts? Men are carriers. They pass it on with little to no outbreaks ever. A very low % less than 10 might get anal or penal cancer much later in life. Men pass it to us. There is no test as of yet to test a man for HPV unless he has an outbreak in either the throat or genitals. Your boyfriend could of had it and past it to you even with no out breaks. YOu could have gotten it from anyone in your life time. How you got it you will never know.
HPV can stay dormant for years and never have any negative paps or outbreaks.

My older friend in her mid 70's was a virgin till the day she married her husband. They were both around 20. He passed away in her early 70's. Her husband was the only guy she ever had sex with. She went for her pap and found out she had HPV. How do you think she feels thinking that her husband was not faithful to her. The doctor said the stress of living with out him lowered her immune system and was most probably the cause of activating the HPV cells. So take care of your health, eat well, try not to stress and just live life the best you can.

There is a study that was done though not confirmed that you can catch HPV from touching. Example: and HPV postive person uses the restroom but does not wash their hands. Shakes hands with you. Now you need to use the rest room. You can pass the HPV germs from the hand shake to your genitals while wipping. You may be able to pass the HPV to your children while cleaning or inspecting them. The group that was studied all had their finger nails tested for HPV. The tests came back postive.

Until they come up with a cure HPV is becoming as common as a cold. You just never get rid of the germ cells. They can go dormant but you keep them in your body.

Re: i feel like i ruined him...

well... i have had Hpv for a long time and swore to myself that id never have sex again(stupid hua?) well then nick walked into my life and and loved me and he doesnt jugde me,weve had sex many times without protection(also stupid) but ive never had an outbreak. so i know hes got it. we both know hes got it. but now i cant help but blame myself. i should of kept to 'the plan'. i gave it to other people befor i knew i had hpv so i was devistated.then i gave a disease to the ''perfect man''. i feel like such an idiot.

Re: i feel like i ruined him...

He very well could of had it before you had sex with him. Unless he had an outbreak of warts the first night you slept together you will never know for sure that he never had it. Over 50% of men have HPV
