If you have been diagnosed with chlamydia, unless you have "disseminated chlamydia" involving the entire uterus and also affecting the liver, it is almost impossible to determine how long you've had it.
If you have just a localized, asymptomatic infection of chlamydia which has NOT involved anything past the cervix, it's usually fairly easily treated with no adverse consequences; however, if there is a lot of inflammation associated with the chlamydia and it has progressed to what is known as "pelvic inflammatory disease", the inflammation can affect the fallopian tubes. If it happens repeatedly then the tubes can scar down increasing the risk of ectopic pregnancy as well as infertility.
