Chlamydia, eek!

I've recently been diagnosed with having Chlamydia, and didn't take it too well as you can imagine, especially as my partner is the only man I've had sex with, so as expected I jumped to conclusions and assumed I'd got it from him. He said that before we got together, nearly 2 years ago, he was tested not long before and came back clean, and used protection with partners between then and getting with me. When I got my results back he then got tested, and his results came back negative. Prior to getting with my current partner I'd only given oral sex once.

If I caught the disease on that one occasion, how have I had 2 years of unprotected sex and not passed it onto my current partner?! He has never cheated on me, I should point out.

Enlightenment please! Or any contribution...! Thanks

Re: Chlamydia, eek!

That does sound mighty odd, that's for sure. Are you positive you have it? Are you positive he doesn't? Or didn't? Is it the same test for oral as genital chlamydia?

This might be one of those things you'll never know. Take the antibiotics, get rid of it, and try not to worry about it. If it comes back, then worry about it.

Re: Chlamydia, eek!

That is really really weird.
I would suggest asking the Dr what the likelihood of him not contracting it from you is over that period of time.
You can hold chlymedia in your system for years and not have any symptoms.
You can also get it through oral sex but it is very rare.
Do you know for sure what his results were? Or did he just tell you what his results were.
Did he defainetly get checked?
I got this once from a long term partner and he told me after we split and I had just started sleeping with someone else..we had intercourse once and I gave it to him..was mortified.
I would say it is most likely that you got it from your present partner if he was your first. But thats just my opinion.
When you go back to the dr to check the antibiotics worked I would ask them.
Using condoms doesn't totally protect you from this STD as its a fluid based thing and you don't need penetration.
I would also ask the doctor if it would be a good idea to get a scan to check there is no damage to your tubes if you have had it for 2 years...it can be really bad for women if not treated early enough.
Don't mean to scare you, but you need to cover all bases here.

Re: Chlamydia, eek!

Thanks for your help both of you, I think I will go back to the doctors and talk all this through with her. Yeah, he got tested, and I was sat next to him when he phoned to ask for the results, so I know he was definately negative.

Feel better for talking to people, thankyou

Re: Chlamydia, eek!

Were you having symptoms and that caused you to get tested? Maybe you have a false positive? Maybe he took some antibiotics without your knowledge so he would appear to be clean???

Regardless, if you take meds, then it might be a good idea for him to take some too just in case he had a false negative.
