Unhappy Diagnosed with Trich, but have had NO SEXUAL CONTACT for 3 years

I was just today diagnosed with TRICH, but I swear on my mother's eyes that I have not had sex for over 3 years now. I am married, but hubby and I are at that age where we are both going through the "change of life" and we have just not had any interest. My fear now is that he HAS had interest, just not with me! BUT, if we haven't had sex together, not oral, not even fingering for over three years, then that means that if he was unfaithful to me it would have to have been over three years ago since we haven't been intimate for that long. And if that is the case, could it have laid dormant in me (or him) for that long without flaring up or with no symptoms in either of us whatsoever????

I know the OB-GYN probably didn't believe me when I told her I have been celibate for three years, as I am married, but it is the truth. I don't want to accuse my husband of 27 years of anything, but I know I haven't done anything.

The OB-GYN told me that it COULD be caught on a public toilet, as I did have to do some travelling for a family emergency last July (plane, then car 1200 mile car trip), but from what I'm reading on the internet, it CAN'T. I am very confused and don't want to throw away 27 years of marriage, but this is tearing me up inside.

If I knew that it was something that could have laid dormant for 27 years I would feel better because maybe one of us got something before we married, but that sounds pretty far fetched.

I have searched all over the internet and can't find how long this can survive in someone without showing any symptoms...can anybody PLEASE answer this for me?

Thanks and the answer I get will probably not be the one I want to hear, but I must know!
