Don't know what I have? Help?

I've been having protected sex with my bf for 3+ months now. Before we have sex, I shave and usually get a few ingrown hairs that I have to pull them out with tweezers. Those bumps are usually red and painful. But I recently found 2 bumps on the bottom of my labia majora - one on each side, right across from each other. The first one I discovered about 2 days into my period. And the second one a couple of days after my bf and I had sex (we had sex while I was on my period)...these bumps aren't painful, red or itchy. I wouldn't have noticed it if I hadn't touched myself while bathing. But they are kinda firm to the touch, and look like they are underneath my skin, instead of peaking up to the surface.

Additional Notes: I recently started using a new soap. And, I have a slight pain right underneath my right butt cheek...I workout a lot so I could have pulled a muscle. But you never know.

I know I need to get tested but until I can, I would like to know anyone's opinion. What do you think this is? I'd appreciate anyone's response. Thank you.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Hello, you really shouldn't pull your ingrown hairs with tweezers. Like you just said they get red and painful and also they can bleed. Plus you can get a inflection. Also before you shave your vagina use warm water and shave gel. Do not use hot water it will cause more irritation and it will make it hurt more and make more razor bumps. The vagina is very sensitive so take your time while shaving. Don't rush! After shaving you can use a good cream to misture the area. Now about for the slight pain I don't think new soap would do that. Like you said you might of pulled a muscle. You should check that with a doctor and for the razor bumps to see if you don't have a inflection. It would be a good idea to get some meds for the bumps too. Hope this helps

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Thank you for responding. I will try what you suggested for shaving. I am just worried that these are not just ingrown hairs. I'm afraid it's an std, even though I only have one symptom (the bumps). The only reason I am worried is because my bf has had several partners before me (about 10). He is only my second. And my first time was with a virgin...He has never been tested. But he has agreed to get tested. So only time will tell.
I even went to my doctor today, but the office was unexpectedly closed! Just my luck, right? I will have to wait a week to address this problem with my doctor.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Your welcome. Ingrown hairs are hairs that grows at an abnormal angle and turns back into the skin, causing the formation of a pustule or papule. Those bumps you have could be razor bumps and can turn into ingrown hairs. It might be also a inflection. But you can't really tell for sure until you see your doctor. That's good that your boyfriend agreed to get tested and you should get tested also. Just in case if it is just razor bumps and you think it is and he might have a std then keep useing condoms if you are going to have sex before you see the doctor. If it is a std that you might have then just like I said wait until you see the doctor. Good luck!

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

The bumps have gone away. They never gave me any problems. Just the fact they were there bothered me. But we are still getting tested. Wish us luck!

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Update: My boyfriend is getting tested tomorrow. It took a lot of convincing, he just wasn't into it. But then I noticed a "mole" either on his ball sack or right next to it. The mole is red, sticks out, and is kinda big. I am praying so hard that it's not a wart. He said it's been there for as long as he can remember...so that made me nervous. So tomorrow he will get the doctor to take a look at it...

And as for me, I don't know when I'll be able to get tested. But, I got my pap test results back, they came back normal. BUT I recently got a sinus infection, and a couple of days after, it looks like I have a yeast infection or what I hope is a yeast infection and not anything else. It started off as a cloudy watery discharge. And then tiny clumpy pieces that reminded me of squishy wet flour...but not as thick and compact as flour...but kind of grainy. And the next day, the inside of my vagina was completely white with thick mucus. And last night an itch started, but when i woke up the mucus had died down a little. And the itch had gone away....is this a yeast infection? or std? sti?

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

A mole is a small, congenital spot on the human skin, usually dark-colored and slightly raised, often hairy. Red moles are just like other moles, but they have a red color. Moles are very common and usually nothing to worry about. One reason you have moles may be genetics. You can be born with a predisposition to have moles. A red mole can also come from an infection. When a regular mole gets infected, that usually makes the blood accumulate near the border and that turns it red. Another cause is the sun. Overexposure to the sun can irritate and even inflame a mole, and cause a change in color. It is not a wart so don't worry but it is good that he is going to the doctor for the mole and getting tested. If he's been having the mole sence he was a baby then it's nothing serious.
If you got a pap smear and got the test results back then you don't need to be tested cause a pap smear is a screeming test. It can be cancer stds etc. The test results camed back normal so you are fine. I don't think a sinus infection would cause a yeast infection. You can get a sinus inflection if you have allergies such as being allgeric to things. A vaginal yeast infection is irritation of the vagina and the area around it called the vulva. Yeast is a type of fungus. Yeast infections are caused by overgrowth of the fungus Candida albicans. Small amounts of yeast are always in the vagina. But when too much yeast grows, you can get an infection. You can take the Vagisil Screening Kit for vaginal infections. Itching, Buring, Unpleasant odor, Unusual discharge are for the symptoms for a yeast infection. Vaginal discharge is simply mucous. It is usually clear in color but may look white or off-white when it is seen outside of your body (on your underwear or toilet tissue). How much of it there is and how thick or watery it is will vary from day to day. This is due to normal changes in your hormone levels during your menstrual cycle (the time between menstrual periods).

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Thank you for always responding....My bf went to the doctor. He said the "mole" just looked like a mole. And he found one tiny bump on my boyfriend's penis. And he said it could be hpv, but he had no way of testing it because it was so small. He was tested for Herpes and Syphilis though. The fact the doctor said it was probably hpv really freaked me out. And the fact there is no way to tell for sure, has left me defeated. Should we just not have sex at all?

And as far as my yeast infection, I've barely felt an itch (every now and then, I'll feel an itch. But it's not unbearable at all), But I do have the "cottage cheese" or clumpy like discharge. I'm on night 2 of Monistat 3. I've also cut down on sugar and yeast...not eating fruit, bread, pasta...really hard to get full, haha. I even tried plan yogurt (tastes horrible by the way). As of now, the discharge isn't as thick. It's cleared up some...but it is still very visible. The clumps are very tiny..they kind of remind me of how sometimes maybe tissue gets stuck in there sometimes...wet tissue paper I guess. But not as firm. So hopefully I will more progress in a couple of days. Again thank you for your responses. You really have helped.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Need urgent help. I just don't know what to think or do...my boyfriend was stupid last night and tried to cut off the tiny bump on his penis. He claims he got it all off, but I read some place that a wart has a root, and you have to get it all or it will definitely grow back with a high percentage of more warts. We don't even know if it is a wart, but I am just assuming the worst here... I am also concerned that he was not sterile with it. He didn't clean his skin or scissors/razor before doing this. He also said there was a lot of bleeding. Should he wait for it to heal or go straight to the doctor?

Yeah, my son has genital warts, and he tried cutting and burning his off before finally breaking down and telling me, at which point I took him to the doctor and had it frozen off professionally.
What your boyfriend did hopefully will not have any negative effect on his health, but I can pretty much guarantee it will not work. It will grow back. These things have to be removed professionally. Typically, doctors freeze them off with liquid nitrogen. As you said, the root has to be killed in order for the wart to go away. Tell your boyfriend that the more he messes with it himself, the more he's going to spread the virus, and then he'll have a bunch of warts, instead of just one.

On another note, his doctor is incompetent. There is an HPV test for males, although it's pretty invasive, and his doctor may not have adequate skill or equipment to perform it.
There's also one for females, which can be performed much more easily, so perhaps you should just go get tested yourself. The female HPV test is similar to a PAP.
His doctor also should've frozen off the "suspected wart" he found, in order to prevent spreading. There is no "too small". It's better to treat it while it's small, and this is the result: now your boyfriend is hacking away at his genitals, trying to get the thing off himself, because his doctor is useless.

Tell him to find a new doctor, and to regularly disinfect the wound he made.
My husband tried to pop an ingrown hair on his groin area last year, and ended up with a staph infection from using an unsterilized sewing needle. He had to go to the hospital for treatment three times. So make sure he cleans and sanitizes his injury!

And, unless he gets an infection that requires treatment, he should wait for it to heal before returning to the doctor.
The doctor will not be able to treat the wart as long as he has an open sore there.

Best of luck.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Thank you so much...I don't think my boyfriend realizes how serious this problem is....so maybe I'll let him read this and it'll scare the hell out of him.

Should he keep the wound bandaged?

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

From your other messages that I read that wasn't a good idea of what your boyfriend did to the bump. He should of left it alone until he went to go see the doctor. He should go soon as possible so that cut doesn't get more infection. If you still want to find out more about the HPV you can look online and I'm sure you will find everything that you want and need to know about it. To prevent yourself for getting diseases, infections and viruses is to get vaccinated such as getting the shots. You can find out more when you look online. Yes he should have the wound bandaged from bleeding more and from germs and bacteria from getting into it. Note: Don't have sex until he gets that taken care of.
That's good that you are taking something for the yeast infection. Also you should go to the doctor to find for sure that is a yeast infection. Taking the Vagisil Screening Kit is a good idea too. The most common symptom of a yeast infection is extreme itchiness in and around the vagina. Other symptoms include: burning, redness, and swelling of the vagina and the vulva, pain when passing urine, pain during sex, soreness, a thick clumpy, white vaginal discharge that looks like cottage cheese and does not have a bad smell a rash on the vagina. You may only have a few of those symptoms. They may be mild or severe.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Thank you, Vanilla Kiss and Kali333 for always responding. I went to the doctor and the yeast infection is gone. I got my test results from a few weeks ago back...I tested negative for HPV, HIV, Chlamydia, and Gonorrhea...I wasn't tested for Herpes, but my bf was. We are still waiting for those results. I just hope that since I tested negative for HPV, that means he doesn't have it. I know it isn't always the case. But that's what I hope. Again, thank you all...just thought you might want to know what has happened.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

I know you're probably tired of my posts, haha...but I have an update. My boyfriend tested negative for herpes, syphilis, and gonorrhea. Good news...but I'm still worried about hpv. The tiny bump he tried to cut off looks like a pimple now (but still barely raised). I couldn't really tell but it almost looked like a tiny, thin hair was trying to grow out of it...and it was kinda white where it was opening up...and around the base it was red (maybe irritation?). I didn't notice this before, but he has fine hairs on his penis. I had also been researching...learned about Fordyce spots. Could this bump have been a fordyce spot instead of a wart?

Don't worry about it. I'm happy to answer your posts. Fordyce spots are considered to be genetic. They are not contagious and are generally present at birth but do not become the pale white spots until puberty is reached.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

Can they become visible years after puberty? It only came to my attention the other day when I found a white spot on my lip. Not a bump, just a completely non-raised, white spot. So I looked that up and discovered Fordyce spots. And started praying that's what my bf had instead of hpv. I just can't get over the hpv thing...cause really there is no way of knowing until something goes wrong (abnormal pap test or completely noticeable warts). People say it's not a big deal, that they lead normal lives after a diagnosis. But I don't want to live knowing that I have a virus and even though there's a huge chance it may not affect me negatively, I could still pass it on to someone else. I just wont rest until I find definite answers.
Thank you again, Vanilla Kiss.

Re: Don't know what I have? Help?

The fordyce spots are normal and yes they can become visible but that is normal. They are small, painless, raised, pale, red or white spots or bumps 1 to 3 mm in diameter that may appear on the scrotum, shaft of the penis or on the labia, as well as the inner surface (retromolar mucosa) and vermilion border of the lips of the face. They are common in men and women of all ages. So what you are seeing is not a wart. All you can do is go to a gyo every couple of months or once a year to get tested for diseases or infections and I think your boyfriend should do the same. You and your boyfriend will be much happier and have less to worry about that you and him are protected. The only person who tell and know if you have anything is the doctor. Remember to take action if something goes wrong or doesn't seem, feel or look right. Note: It's better to be safe then sorry. Your welcome.

Thank you, Vanilla Kiss! You have been very helpful. My boyfriend will continue to get tested over time. It will take much convincing because he hates doctors. And we will also monitor any changes.
