STD question

I am a man..far removed from teenage years..who is very much ashamed to admit that in many years of happy marriage he trangressed once. That was four years ago. I am very naive about STDs so please understand that I am ashamed, afraid, wondering...... Of late I have developed a redness on the penis head......there is no discharge or anything like that but COULD some form of STD been in incubation that period of time and be displaying itself. Does what I describe fit the description of any STD??? I wonder if it could be balantitis..........................

I am so damn contrite and ashamed.....
thank you for any suggestions...
