My boyfriend said he gets a burning feeling when urinating, but i dont experince anything weird. i got tested and i am negative. what else could it be thats affecting him? could he just have a bladder infection? he hasnt gotten tested yet. i guess the burnign feeling is just once in a while. thanks to whomever can help.

He should be tested. There are several STDs. You and he should be tested for all of them. Unprotected sex is like playing russian roulette. Men and Women can be "carriers" of STDS and not even know it. Plus the risk of pregnancy and AIDS makes it a no win situation. Lecture over.

Here is a good source of info on STDs

This could be plenty of things, for example an allergy to underwears. You do not know yet if it is an infection, until the results come back.

He should not be tested only for Chlamydia. Actually, there are three tests: one for Gonorrhea, one for Chlamydia, and one, the "NGU" test, for any other type of infection in the urethra.

If an infection is confirmed, you should both be treated. You can be the carrier of the germs and still test negative.

Hope this helps,
Francis.

Yasmine,

It sounds very much like your boyfriend has got cystitis. This is more common in women than men, but it is entirely possible for men to catch it. Bacteria can travel up the urethra and cause infection.

Go to the doctor who can run a test immediately to see if white blood cells are present in the urine (how you test for cystitis). These white blood cells cause cloudy urine - get your boyfriend to urinate into a glass and see for himself if it is cloudy.

Use condoms for intercourse for now. Even though you are not infected, unprotected sex can add to cystitis problems owing to the huge numbers of bacteria present in the genital area.

Best wishes,

Rachael
