My cervicitis was not caused by a disease (such as chlamydia, ghonorrhea, herpes, or hpv). My doctor told me it was basically an inflammation of the cervix that is often caused by a STI, but in some cases (such as my case) it can just be caused by trauma, such as frequent sex, a dislodged tampon, and IUD or diaphragm.
I think mine was being caused by rough sex. I also know that my 'insides' are super sensitive -- I'm allergic to latex and they give me yeast infections. After using astroglide a couple of times, I didn't bleed, so the doctor told me to keep using it.
I really didn't have any other symptoms than the spotting. If you've got a white discharge, you really should see a doctor.
