I KNOW I have warts - Sexually Transmitted Diseases Message Board

I went to the gyno about 3 months ago and was tested for STDs, everything came back fine and my pap was normal. I have since developed what I see as definite warts on my inner and outter vagina. I have one or two flesh colored ones the size of a pencil eraser and very small clusters going up the sides of my inner vagina. I have seen pictures online and am pretty sure I have this. Needless to say I am devasted, but beyond that, I know I had to have gotten it before I saw the gyno. Did she do something wrong, or can you miss these things? Also- are there any other physical symptoms of warts? Any effects on overall health? Around 4 months ago I got a terrible vaginal infection and no one could tell me the cause. Could this be related? And can I ever hope to be rid of these things?

HPV doesn't show up on PAP smears unless it has infected the cervix/vagina and is causing cellular abnormalities. Luckily, the type of HPV(that you have) that causes warts are less risky, as there are others that are associated with cervical cancer (they don't cause warts). Go get treated as soon as possible because they can get real big. It's not the end of the world. Many people get this and get on with their lives.

Thanks for the info, I made an appointment with my gyno for friday. What medications are available?

I don't know what they use now. If it's small, they will probably use some acid solution, if it's large then they usually burn it off with laser.
