| My acne story
I am 49 years old and suffered from severe acne as a teenager. My skin has lots of scars. I was treated with Acutane in my twenties and things got better, though after 8 years or so of the treatment, acne came back. It was there most of my life, much worse during ovulation or before periods. In my early forties, however, I made a chance discovery.
In order to support my husband who needed a special diet, I came off dairy entirely. I then discovered that my acne is completely dairy related: a few drops of milk at the wrong time of the month, a spot. A piece of cheese, a spot. Etc. It doesn't matter if the milk or cheese are non-fat, goats, or if it is yoghurt. All dairy seems to have the same effect. I just wish I knew this years earlier. I am sure this does not apply to everyone, but it might be worth trying. It is easier than you may think: I used to love cheese, probably still would. But no cheese or pizza in the world is worth acne, believe me.
