My acne problems, now gone
I had horrible acne all through adolescence. I went to a dermatologist for it, and he put me on everything available (at least what was available in the early '90s--I don't know about newer things). He said if none of it worked, he'd put me on Accutane. One day, I said to heck with it, went in, and said, "OK, let's do this Accutane thing."
The Accutane was no fun. I particularly remember getting a yeast infection of my lip, which made me sick and caused me to lose a new job. I also remember having to open the pill packs in front of the TV, with scissors. It took forever, and I think I cut myself.
Anyway, the main thing is that it worked. :-) I still got one or two during my cycle, but I was no longer a total mess.
I am now 36, nearly 37. I put a stop to the one or two cyclical ones I still got by using L'Occitane rice cleanser and lotion. So those are my only major recommendations--Accutane and rice-based skincare. :-) Nothing else has really worked any wonders.
