| My Story
Well, I'll try to make this short and sweet. I have suffered from depression since I was a little kid...as far back as I can remember. I started going to therapy and taking meds when I was 15 or so. Nothing helped. I was hospitalized when I was 17, spent 7 weeks in a nuthouse, had a bunch of shock treatments. After that, I basically wandered through life without any treatment. When Prozac came out in the 80's, I was one of the first in line to take it. I took Prozac for 15 years....until it stopped working. After several changes in my drug cocktail, I am now on Effexor, Adderall, Celexa, and Klonopin. I feel that I get some relief from these meds but I am still stumbling. Over the last few years, I have had too many jobs to count, gone through a divorce, and moved from Ca to Wyoming to Ca to Alaska and back to Ca again. Depression and anxiety have basically ruled my life. I have been reviewing alternative treatments for depression and am giving strong consideration to VNS therapy, which I will be paying approx 35K for. But, what do I have to lose?
