Hi everyone,
I just found this site today, I wish I'd found it sooner!
My husband and I have been TTC for over 2 years now and it feels like we have so much against us!
Firstly I thought the problem would be that I was diagnosed with endo at the age of 17 (I'm 33). We tried for a year or so on our own and then got referred to a fertility clinic. As I think most clinics do, they started by testing my husband first (easier I guess) and found a problem straight away, he has very very little sperm present and what is there is non motile. After many tests on him they came to the conclusion it was caused by him having the mumps as a young teenager.
We got the news a few months ago that there's nothing that can be done and our only hope would be using a sperm donor. As you can probably imagine we were really upset, it's the last thing we were expecting, I guess we just assumed it could get fixed. After councelling and much discussion we decided to go ahead with the sperm donor and are feeling OK with that now.
I then had another appt a few weeks ago when I got the results for my basic tests, and nearly fell off my seat when the Dr said my FSH level is high, It's 11. We didn't see that coming. All my other hormone tests and ultrasound are normal.
We are starting IVF in a few months. Our Dr wants to start by doing IVF light, has anyone heard of IVF light (also called "Flare" or "orgalutran") or had it done?, his reasons were because it can be done more times per year than normal IVF as they don't give you all the hormones to make you menapausal (but it's success rates not quite as good). He is also suggesting only transferring blastocysts as the success rate is higher (providing they make it that far).
I've started seeing a chinese herbalist for acupunture hoping to prepare my body better and also hopefully helping the quality of my eggs.
I'm trying anything and everything! Has anyone had alternative treatments as well as IVF?
I'm so happy to have found this site where I can read all your stories and hear your thoughts, I don't know anyone who has gone through this before, in fact they all seem to be pregnant or have babies! maybe I just notice it more now.
Thanks for reading all this, your support is very appreciated
