| New to this: My Lyme Disease Story
Hi. I'm new to this board and thought i should share my story.
I contracted lyme disease in 1972. I grew up across the river from lyme, ct.
I was one of those kids that got the terrible arthritis in the knees. For 6 months, every friday, i had blood taken in order to figure out what was going on. Lyme was not diagnosed or discovered until 1975, when i was finally diagnosed. I was never treated. In 1998 i had what i would call a "relapse" with my knees.
I had trouble walking but pushed on through and recovered after a month. Now, i have terrible fatigue, migrating joint pain, night sweats, trouble concentrating etc. After getting out of the bath about a month ago, i saw a round red spot about the size of a half dollar on the back of my arm. In the center was a tiny black speck. Unfortunately, by the time i got to the Doctor a few days later, the rash had disappeared. I requested doxy and he begrudgingly wrote me a script.
My blood tests came back with western blot IgG bands 39, 41, and 58 reactive along with IgM band 23. My doctor says i do not have lyme and i should come off the doxy. I'm very frustrated.
