I work in a derm office and there are people who come in with shingles. Is this safe when your pregnant to be exposed to these people?

Hi...there is a test that the doctor can do to see if you're immune. If not, there is a shot you can have if the fetus is less than 20 weeks.

Shingles is just as contagious as chicken pox, and extremely dangerous to the developing fetus if you're not immune.

Definitely get it checked into....if you're in a clinic where you can be moved, maybe that's a good option so that the exposure will be lessened.

Did you have chicken pox when you were a kid?

I had the chicken pox when i was 5 I am now 32. No I can not move away from these patients because I work at the front desk.

Hi....it would be best, then, to have yourself checked (blood test) to make sure your immunisation is what is required. Then you'll be able to base your concerns on actual facts.

How many weeks pregnant are you?

I am not pregnant yet but will be trying soon. I am the type of person that needs to plan ahead. I will call my gyn to see what i need to be tested for.
