Hi all,
I had shingles last year on my left arm. I am 28, male. That was when I was working in Mumbai, India.
It started as red rash on the skin, then progressed to a lot of tiny white bubbles on the skin in a day or two. I thought it was a fungal problem; and went to a demitologist clinic. The right doctor was not available. One who was available was a pediatrician who said he could consult me too!
Well, on the first look of the arm, he reacted wierdly; and treated me like an exhibit to other people around. I was clueless about what was happening. Well, he declared it was Herpes Zoster. He asked me to visit him the next day. (seems, he wanted to ****** a lot that night before advising me anything)
The following morning when I visited him; he diorectly said that it could be something really nasty and that I go for a blood checkup. I was a bit shocked. I did go for a blood check up; and in half an hour was told that everything was OK. Just that my fasting blood-sugar was on the upper end.
I was wise to decide to change the doctor. Then I consulted a known dermitologist. He laughed at the way the previous doctor treated me; and said that it was not that uncommon a disease. He said in local dialect the disease is called 'Nagin' (Serpent); as it happenes along a particular nervous line. I didnt remember having suffered from Chicken pox. He said that several times chicken pox goes undiagnosed; or the symptoms are so negligible that we tend to ignore it. Well, the disease 'nagin' is nothing but a reactivation of the chicken pox virus which might have caused because of stress.
Though I developed a problem of anxiety since then which still petrsists mildly; the doctor said there was nothing to worry at all.
After that I got to know about several other people of my age having that disease.
I would advise all to consult the right doctor.
God Bless!
