i had tranS1 surgery in January 2010 and since have had severe problems with sitting. In July doctor noticed shingles rash on my butt where surgery incision was performed and gave me Lyrica. The rash was gone after a week but i still have the pain while sitting now 10 months removed from surgery. I've had 2 doctor review my images, MRIs and Mylagrams, each stating that the surgery and screws all looked good. Are the shingles still affecting me inside my tailbone and butt area and causing my pain?
Unfortunately yes this can happen. It's called postherpetic neuralgia. It is supposedly more common in people over 60 but not impossible for younger people. I am proof of that! It's horrible. I wish you the best. There are medications for it and I think Lyrica is one of them but if that doesn't work there are others.
If you type "postherpetic neuralgia" in your search engine you will find alot of info.
Hope you feel better soon!

one more thing, i have had this pain for 11 months now. how long did you have it? some readings state it could take years? i'm taking Lyrica now and it seems to help but is there anything else i should do? maybe change my diet? exercise? i'm reaching my flash point.
