My wife and I both had the shot last year. It cost $130 each but about 70% was paid back by insurance. The shots will perhaps be contraindicated if you are taking immunosupressive drugs for your scleroderma. Usually it is given when you reach 60, immune systems weaken after that age. I know HIV patients, chemo and radiation and certain cancer patients should refrain from this vaccination. If you have ever seen a person who has had a bad attack you will be eager to have it done, it can blind you and in some cases intractable pain. It wont stop the shingles in some cases but will reduce the symptoms greatly.
