I have had the shingles in my eye 3 times, UGH! It starts out with itching, burning and then one feels sharp pain going down to the nose, towards the ear and cheek. I felt sick all over like I had the flu. Since I have had the shingles 2 other times I knew what the symptoms start out as so I went to the eye doctor with in 24 hr's. He put me on an antiviral drug called Zirgan. It is an ointment that I put in my eye 5 times a day for 7 days then tapered off after that. It worked right away for the pain. Then eventually the sores dried up on the cornea and I have been fine ever since. I have had the shingles all total of 6 times now and had the vaccine as well. Go Figure! I think they like me?
