sudden hearing loss
I went to see my ENT doctor today concerning my hearing loss in my left ear.
He says it is nerve damage from a possible virus. I don't feel sick. Does this mean the virus has been dormant? I guess it's like the shingles virus, which I have had shingles 3 times. All different areas. The last episode was over 6 months ago. I am scheduled for an MRI tomorrow. I am now taking prednisone, zithromax and acyclovir to hopefully restore my hearing. Anyone else been through this?

I had shingles in 2005 and a little over a year ago I started having hearing problems in my left ear. My Ent sent me to a specialist and he also said its from the virus and put me on acyclovir 800mg 3x a day for awhile and now im taking it 1x a day but still my hearing is bad and if I quit taking my meds it get bad again.
