I have been living with shoulder discomfort for months. It is better now than it was before. I was in a number of rear ending car accidents a few years ago and I have tension and discomfort in my shoulder, and while it has gotten better from PT and chiropractic care, it is still not the same. I play guitar and that bothers it which I'm not ready to give up, I have given up lap swimming
because of the discomfort and sometimes I sleep on it wrong and I wake up in pain.
I've seen docs about it, one renowned doc that my family and I are very fond of told me to do shoulder shrugs and rolls which I keep forgetting to do. When I have done it, I don't think it has really helped. His office is near my family which is 2 1/2 hours away from where I live and I am considering either seeing seeing a local orthopedist or a physical pain management/rehabilitation specialist doctor. I guess I could start with my primary care doctor but I don't see him for a month, maybe I should make an appointment sooner. I feel hesitant calling him to have the primary care doctor return my call because I've called the primary doctor about other unrelated things lately.
A neurologist said to try myofascial release for my headaches which would be over the shoulder area, but when I talked to the physical therapist he was hesitant to do it because I was so tender and sensitive in that area.
Some advice is greatly appreciated especially about whether I should call my primary care doc first or a specialist first.
