frozen shoulder 1 wk post op rotator cuff surgery

I am discouraged and miserable. Dislocated my shoulder June 10, 2011. Tried to rehab it and avoid surgery. Got better than worse with frozen shoulder. Surgery was extensive.I am 7 days post op. Dr repaired large tears in superspinatus, subscapularis, bicep tendon and muscle, and shaved two bone spurs. Let's not even discuss pain issues. But have been doing as told keeping in in sling and doing three types of pendulums every two hours. Today, had an appt with my GP. When I showed her my pendulums../she said, "Looks like it is frozen again." I just started sobbing.

Is this possible? I was so worried about tearing the repairs, but still did pendulums every 2 hours, even through the night. HELP!

If someone says "it looks like it's frozen again" you know they know nothing about shoulders, frozen or not. Your shoulder is all raw inside, cut and stiched pulled and painfull. Let it settle, take your medication, make sure your arm is close to your body so it doesn't get jerked around. Do some gentle fist making repeatedly to gently pump the arm muscles to keep the blood flowing and the pain should begin to settle.

Thanks, James. Your post made me feel better. See surgeon tomorrow for first followup. Do you think it is too late to get and start using a CPM machine?

A CPM is the last thing a post operative shoulder needs.
Read my posting, Help! 7 Months after surgery, more pain. 09/18/2011

Ok, got it. Yes, I am impatient and expect too much. Thanks for helping me to get
realistic. Just so different from my total knee replacement; thought this would be easier since I was not getting sawed and drilled, and new artificial part put in. Shoulder is so much more complicated.
