Shoulder Injury

Hi

On Sept 26 2011, I pulled a muscle in my shoulder blade and went all the way down my arm. It took my breathe away. I saw the Drs next day and he said pulled muscles. Gave me Inflammated drug and sent me to physical therapy. That last two weeks and follow up appointment , it was worst. Had a xray showed calium build up on top where shoulder meets the ball. He then sent me to a Specialist. The specialist then sent me for a mri. It showed mass Inflammation. He then gave me a Cortisode shot..which never helped. I am now schedule for a 1 A and a A C Joint Injection , under xray. Did anyone had that done? Also did it helped? The pain I have now is a rubbing feeling on top of shoulder blade and pain that shoots down to wrist. Any help would be appericated. By the way I got this injury from trying to open a broken door , which I didnt know was broken.

Thank You

Re: Shoulder Injury

The acomioclavicular joint gives pain in only the area of the acromioclavicular joint, that is at the tip of the shoulder. Why you would ever need this injection under xray I don't know. Even the most inept injector would have to get it right without any help. I'm sure the calcium was present for years and never gave trouble. What was the diagnosis given by your PT?

Pt Thought maybe a torn rotate cuff..The Othropedic specialist said for sure really bad Inflammed. I know he said these shots have to be done under xrays. The pain is worst also before my elbow and after my elbow. It feels like someone is stabbing me, any other thoughts?

Thanks
Deb
