I've been battling stubborn tennis elbow in my right arm since January of this year. I had an MRI of the elbow in June and just saw the doctor yesterday for the results. He verified the finding of Lateral Epicondylitis (no surprise) but didn't mention two other findings on the written report:
- Bone bruise and bone marrow edema along the lateral aspect of the radial head as well as the lateral epicondyle itself.
- Mild joint effusion in elbow joint predominantly along the lateral aspect.
I believe my condition is due to overuse, NOT an external trauma, so I am puzzled by the finding of bone bruise and bone marrow edema. This began in January while getting PT for rotator cuff tendinosis. Could there be an underlying condition in my elbow not yet identified? I've gone through PT (which made it worse), Prolotherapy/PRP (not measurably improved), wearing an elbow brace. It seems very sensitive to any activity, so I am now giving it rest.
