I have to see the physican asssistant today . My problem is I had rotate cuff surgery five weeks ago. They said I have for the last three weeks a infection. So I been on the medicine ...the pills. Well the last time I was there he wanted to do injection for the infection . My question is what is the difference between the pills or having a injection under xray for the same medicine? I am in so much pain and I think its time for a Mri. What should I say or do? I had a complete torn and they shaved the bone. Pleade anyone have any advice.
I just now saw your post and I sure hope you had additional antibiotics by now. Pills, from what I understand, can be broad spectrum--they go everywhere through your blood stream. It sounds as though the injection will deliver more medicine directly to the primary site of infection. I hope you received the treatment you need to recover and you feel better by now!

Thank you
I have never heard of antibiotics being injected into an infected site. I would not be seeing a physicians assistant, I would want to see the surgeon.
