Pulled shoulder + inflammation

I recently had an ultra sound on my right rotator cuff. The doctor said it was only a pulled shoulder and there was inflammation thats why it was clicking and popping while moving it certain ways. I did experience pain from time to time before one night very bad pain that I couldn't sleep. I am currently letting it heal for the next few weeks doing 2 days holding ice on it for 30 minutes x2 a day and 1 day with heat for twice a day and taking ibuprofen 300mg. have any of you experienced anything like this and what have you done to help I exercise but cannot because of this i heard there was some gels that can fix it really quick.
