| Re: Rotator Cuff Surgery
Basically, my doc told me you either get repaired now in a controlled situation, or come back after it's completely severed. Your choice.
Depending upon the repair, (mine was a three-quarter tear in the subscapularis tendon) you are probably looking to be off work for approximately 2 to 3 months depending upon what your job requirements are. So with that scenario, having the ability to pick and choose your surgery-recovery time might be a good idea. For me, I was at PT twice a week for 2 1/2 months, each visit lasted about an hour to an hour and a half. After 11 months, I still have a full half-hour of stretching and weight routine that I do at home. I am very physically active, and was basically told I'll be doing these for the rest of my life. My attitude is: I'm not old enough to stop having fun!
Good luck with your decision, and the site is a great place for information
