Smile Pain following rotator cuff repair

I just had rotator cuff surgery on Tuesday and was taken by surprise by intensity of the pain i am experiencing. I generally have a high pain tolerance and am used to pain as a result of various injuries and being very tall at a young age - the bones and muscles had to get stronger before they rally could support me .

Reading the comments and infos from others on this board has helped me very much to figure out that this is normal! Thank you to everybody who shared their experiences about the pain.

i'll continue with the analgesics as long as necessary, keep icing, and keep my arm in the sling aside from the pendulum excercises my surgen suggested.

Re: Pain following rotator cuff repair

Depending upon your injury and repair, don't forget to take your pain meds prior to PT the first couple of visits!

Good luck with recovery

Re: Pain following rotator cuff repair

I was surprised at how long I needed the pain meds. I had a SLAP repair and then my shoulder froze during the recovery. Good luck. Ice us always good as well.

Re: Pain following rotator cuff repair

I am realizing that this will take more time and is more painful than the various broken bones and sprained ankles i have had over the years. I am practicing patience on a positive note: I don't feel that guilty if I continue taking it easy at work next week. I have the possibility to work from home and will certainly start on Monday but will limit it to a few hours/day rather than a full workday. Have to watch that I don"t het tendonitis, etc in the other arm from the computer work

I Hope your shoulder is now pretty much better!
