I have been having pain in my left back shoulder region for about 8 years. Dr says it is a stress knot but I think something else is going on. I can reach my left back shoulder with my right hand and feel a knot that moves around. It is becoming more painful everyday. Anyone have any suggestions or experiencing anything like this? I am seeing my family doctor again today and will be insisting we do something. I do want to add that I have had an MRI and nothing shows in that area, I had back surgery last February for a ruptured disc but this has been going on for years.
Just wanted to post an updated in-case anyone is experiencing what I'm going through... Not sure what is going on. My family doctor said it is a Lipoma so I saw a surgeon he's not really sure what it is and classifying it as a mass. I have an MRI today and then will see the surgeon again next Tuesday for my results. Just a little worried but I'm sure it's not too serious!
Hi,
I just googled lipoma as I was curious to find out what it is. It's a growth of fat cells in a thin, fibrous capsule usually found just below the skin. It says that lipomas are the most common noncancerous soft tissue growth.
Hope your MRI goes well and it just turns out to be a lipoma.
If it is a lipoma, that is a good thing. A lipoma is a benign fatty tumor that is right below the skin. They can usually be removed during a minor surgical procedure in a doctor's office. A local anesthetic is used to numb the area, and the doctor cuts it out. I have had around 40 of them removed from various body parts during the last 17 years.
