Please reply if you've used estrostep or heard about it!

Hello everyone,
I went to see my gynocologist 3 months ago, and asked her for yasmin since I heard that this oc can really clear up acne. Instead, she gave me Estrostep and said that this has been proven to clear up moderate acne. I have never used oc before, and so therefore, I researched and chickened out due to the possible side effects such as hairloss, and possible initial breakouts, which I dread the most. I called my gynocologist again and she reassured me to give this a try, but still I am sooo scared. I asked her about spiro but she said that her clinic prescribes spiro for other problems and not for acne. My period will start within the next 2 weeks, so I am about to do it. However, I was wondering if any of you have used this type of oc and whether you had positive effects with this or not. I have been too depressed about my face to go thru another massive outbreak again. Please please reply if you heard about this pill or used it...
Thanks and goodnight
Anita

I was in the same situation a while ago, I asked for yasmin but my doc gave me estrostep and what a nightmare! The high levels of estrogen turned me into a bloated basketcase and it made my acne worse!

I have been taking Ovcon for years (after Orthotricyclen flipped me out totally) but when I startedbreaking out I opted to switch to a type of BC that is said to help. The doc chose Estrostep -- which has the SAME chemicals as Ovcon, but less estrogen and more progestin.

I had a TERRIBLE reaction to it (the doc said i am progestin intolerant). After two weeks I gained 8 pounds (i TRIED for the last 3 years to gain weight but couldnt and suddenly i packed it on in a bad way), I broke out and my blood pressure went through the roof. I am back on Ovcon now and trying antibiotics and retin-a micro. . .

Hairloss and all the side effects that are listed with BC tend to be listed with all forms of it, fyi. It jsut depends on how your body reacts to it.

Thanks guys for taking your time to reply. Oh gosh, now I am even more nervous starting on this pill. How bad was your acne?? My is moderate, and I have oily skin. So far, I have only heard negative responses, so I dunno. Is there such a thing as taking some tests to find out whether you are allergic to any of the ingredients in the pills before starting them???
