High Estrogren BCP's

Can anyone recommend some birth control pills that are considered to be high estrogen? I am currently on Seasonale (30mg est.) and I have constant spotting. It is driving me crazy! I've been on this pill for over a month and still no change. My doctor says it can take the body 3 months to adjust. I don't know if I can wait that long. Do you think a higher estrogen pill would stop this?

Try Ortho-Tricyclen Lo. It puts out alot of estrogen.

Re: High Estrogren BCP's

I didn't realise that 30mcg of estrogen was considered "low-dose" until I looked it up then. I always thought that was considered high and pills such as Alesse and Mircette with 20mcg of estrogen were the low-dose pills.

Pills with a level of estrogen 50mcg are considered high-dose... I can find that out but I am unable to find any named examples, other than Ovral or Ovral®-28.

The lowest amount of estrogen you can take would be best. Usually the high-dose pills are not prescribed until you have had definite trouble with breakthrough bleeding, so your doctor will probably want to wait and see of the problem solves itself before putting you on a higher-dose of estrogen. Usually you have to wait three cycles before a change is made. If things are not better by then they probably won't get to be.

I thought Ortho-tri-cyclen had 35mcg of estrogen maximum, but then the ortho-tri-cyclen LO had less... maybe 25mcg. I may be wrong...

Ovcon is .035mg of estrogen and .4mg of nprethindrone (a progestin). Heck, not only do I not break-thru bleed, but I barely get my period ;-)

Re: High Estrogren BCP's

I am too on seasonale and I have been for three months. I had a problem with breakthrough bleeding before I got on this pill. I was on Ortho-Cyclen, Ortho-TriCyclen, then Yasmin. My doc put me on this thinking maybe it would get better. It hasn't. I got thru the first three months with some spotting. Then I had my period a week ago. I have been back on the seaosonale for a week now and I am spotting once again. The dark-reddish blood. Eck! I hate this so much! My doctor has also suggested putting an estrogen cream on the cervix? Has anyone had that? Has anyone else had these problems and have tried something that really worked. Help!
