Effexor

I've been on Effexor 16 days now. I don't think I'm having side effects, but I might be. I get occasional dizzy spells - I've always been prone to them, but it's more frequent now. I've been waking up at 4:00 a.m. with racing thoughts. But I'm also under a lot of actual stress in my life, too, so it could be that.

I'm seeing my shrink again but not until nex Tuesday. Meanwhile, I was supposed to increase my dosage form 75 to 150 on Sunday, but I decided not to. I feel pretty un-depressed and if the dizziness is a side effect, I don't want more of it.

Any thoughts?

Re: Effexor

I had racing heart & bad anxiety from effexor, so it may be a side effect. I think you are wise not to up the dose til you talk to your doc.

Re: Effexor

I had the same problem with Effexor, mind racing. I also had a lot of dizziness, I would feel like I was going to fall over sometimes when I was leaning over. I also noticed that while I was takign Effexor I had a lot of ringing in my ears. Has anybody else experienced any of that?

Effexor

Been on effexor for 2 weeks and a bit. Quitting anafranil, and i´m having horrible nausea and head ackes for over a week now. Guess its getting used to it.
At least i have recovered from the side-effects of anafranil which ive been taking for 1 year or so.

Re: Effexor

Heh heh. I didn't have ringing in the ears until today, but now I have it!

I'm not at all nervous or anxious, and I don't feel at all depressed, but I am still having dizziness. I'm still hoping it will go away. When I was on Welbutrin, I had really bad cold sweats, but they went away after a couple of weeks, so I'm still hoping.

The most commonly reported side-effects from Effexor are insomnia and nervousness. Here are the statistics. As you can see, the greatest side-effect risk is of the drug giving you insomnia if you are have social anxiety disorder. I myself haven't been having any trouble getting to sleep, but I often wake up at 4 a.m.

For Major Depression:

Insomnia:
17% on Effexor XR
11% on placebo

Nervousness:
10% on Effexor XR
5% on placebo

ForGeneralized Anxiety Disorder:

Insomnia:
15% on Effexor XR
10% on placebo

Nervousness:
6% on Effexor XR
4% on placebo

For Social Anxiety Disorder:

Insomnia:
23% on Effexor XR
7% on placebo

Nervousness:
11% on Effexor XR
3% on placebo
