Re: To Lori J. HELP !
Hi Lia, did you ever hear back from the nurse? I am much more sore than my last visit to the PT. He tried some other things today & they have my back sore. I will have to tell him on Thurs. to lighten up, it's too soon, but they don't know unless you tell them. I had this happen the last time I went there, had to let them know whenever anything they did caused me pain. I realize he is working with two different areas, he's trying to get my hips back in shape & also trying to alleviate the disc pain, which i cannot do my exercises for til the hip is better. So, I have some pain in the right lower area of my back tonite, sitting is NOT comfortable at all.
Not a good day & also the pain is triggering my depression to be worse again. I looked so forward to summer & now all this.
I don't envy you the trip to your g-kids, knowing the pain you are in. It takes its toll on us, we can only do so much thru the pain.
I feel so old today.
Let me know what your doc says & hopefully you'll get in to see him ASAP. lori

Re: To Lori J. HELP !
I'm sorry, Lori ,that you are still in pain. That makes 2 of us. Are your feet and ankles still swelling too? The nurse called me back at 6:30 last nite that she had called in some Bextra and some Darvocet to the pharmacy for me and that the Dr wants to see me in 2 weeks if I am not better. Well of course the pharmacy was closed by then, we live on the prarie you know , where we have nothing open 24 hours. So I will dress and go get the meds this morning. And HOPE they help and don't have horrendous side effects. I mainly need something to get me thru the trip to SA this weekend. I will try to keep my feet up as much as I can today plus clean house and pack for the weekend. There is no rest for us , you know that. I'll write you back after I take some of these pills when I get them and let you know if they are helping at all. I know what you mean about depression. I am pretty low myself, my husband is very unsympathetic about pain and illness in general and does not like to hear about it. So if I say nothing, he thinks I am FINE, if I speak up about it he says I complain too much. Sigh. So I was down and out yesterday too and then we had severe weather , another worry we don't need. I sat on a stool in the hall with a pillow over my head, could not get on the floor or have gotten up off of it , and cried thru out the storm ! And I am not a crier. but I'm just nearly at the end of my rope. I know you are too . You had big plans for the summer, me too, I guess that might be changing . What a pair we are. Lia

Re: To Lori J. HELP !
Lia, I'm glad the doc sent you some pain relievers FINALLY, at least you got that out of him... Now when you see him in 2 weeks, maybe he'll write a script for PT>
I was in horrible pain all nite. Today it's a bit better, I've forced myself to do a few things around here, can't leave it all for my hubby, he works long hours too.
it's cold here & raining, just what my MOOD needed!
I can't just lay around, I'm too active & if I'm in pain either way, then I'd rather be doing things. Got down the basement stairs, hubby has been doing laundry for me, but there was a mountain of ironing, so I did a few things than rested. That's all we can do.
Yes, do write later today & let me know how the pain meds are working. I've heard of darvocet bot not the other one. I'll look it up.
You DO need pain meds, I don't know how you do it everyday in 24 hour pain. At least these may help you survive the trip & actually enjoy it for once.
I'll check back later, been on here on & off all day, rather than sit for hours at nite. I'll check back in a bit. take care & rest up for your trip.
This horrible weather is everywhere, plus the cold is not helping me feel better, the damp & cold is also bothering my arthritis.!!!!!

Re: To Lori J. HELP !
Ain't we got fun, Lori !! Now your arthritis is in the act and mine too. Limping around on these painful legs and feet has aggravated the right knee and left hip which glucosamine sulfate and Vioxx had helped a little bitty bit. Now they hurt along with the back , legs and feet. This is just ridiculous at our age. How old are you again, I forget ? I am 57 , be 58 in August and feel 98. I am the very same as you , the bed is the last place I want to be, what difference does it make where we hurt, sitting, standing, walking , working, lying in bed, it's all the same. I have to do things here too, have too, DH is not home to do it. I went and got my meds today , smeared on a little makeup , pulled my hair up in a bun and went off looking like the wrath of God. I just could not be bothered with my hair. I could not deal with that. I went there and then to the post office and mailed a package. It has about 10 steps. I went up them sideways ! heehee. Doing laundry now, life goes on . Gotta do more packing up for the weekend in SA too. Somehow we keep going. Here is what the dr called in Generic Darvocet called Propo-N/APAP contains propoxyphene (whatever that is ) and acetaminophen. , tis a combination of a narcotic analgesic and tylenol used to relieve mild to moderate pain. Says take 1 or 2 every 4 to 6 hours as needed. I took 1 at 10am and 1 at 2pm, I see no pain relief yet but did not want to take 2 at a time till I saw what they did. Pharmacist said they would make me sleepy , but of course they don't , nothing makes me sleepy . Anyway there are 50 tablets here, no refills, thank goodness only $5 co pay since it is generic. Then the Bextra is basically like Vioxx looks like to me, is a Cox 2 inhibitor . He prescribed only 20 pills to be taken once per day and no refills. It was $30.27 co pay , full price for that 20 pills would have been $64.62. Sigh. No relief yet. Also the pharmacist told me I could take a Natural Herbal Diuretic but no other kind with the thyroid and high BP , etc. So I got one by Natures Bounty called Extra Strength Water Pill. It has not helped yet either . But I am hopeful that I can get thru the trip with all this and then I have to have a serious talk with this Dr about the fact that my life is just going down the tubes thanks to this back and see if there is PT here and if he will prescribe it. Sorry your nite was so bad but glad today is a little better. I'll check back in with you later. Soldier on. Lia

Re: To Lori J. HELP !
Lia, I soooo hope those pain pills give you some relief, I know how you feel, you just want to give up when in so much pain. I'm 57 also, will be 58 in sept. I feel 90 right now.
I am determined to walk a few garage sales on friday, don't know how i'll do it, but i can't just sit here. is really boring & depressing. I hope if nothing else, your pain pills let you get some sleep.
the vioxx makes me tired, dopey, but never did much for my pain, but at least it knocked me out at bedtime. When i had the herniated disc I was on vioxx, vicodin & tylenol every 4 hours, with little relief. I can't believe all of that & I still was in horrible pain.
i haven't done my exercises yet today, so have to get at them & have to do two sets, as I missed the morning one.
when do you leave, sat. morning?
let me know how you are doing on the pills. at least he sent something!!!!
