Re: Day 6- some advice on Xanax?

Michelle - Xanax is nothing new... you aren't 'adding' drugs. You've asked these same questions before... just take it as needed. You know as well as I do that you cannot stop xanax suddenly anyway. But you ARe on neurontin and I've heard that makes you REALLY sleepy. Seems like that would help at night and then use xanax during the day for true anxiety. I wouldn't use xanax for sleep. In my opinion, it should be used for anxiety. But I'm guilty of taking a half or one mg for sleep if I'm wide awake at 1:00 a.m. and I know I have to get up at 5:00 the next morning. So it's one of those things that my mother used to say "Do as I say, not as I do" lol

Anyway, Lisa is right - quite obsessing. Why try to get off of everything at once? But then again, it all just depends on what you want.

And I have to speak up on the Suboxone issue ----- it has saved many peoples' lives including mine. I've had some issues and side effects but overall... I have absolutely no desire for pills whatsoever so if you find that no matter what you do... and I do mean no matter what and you are feeling hopeless about your addiction, Suboxone is an option for opiate addicts. Although I haven't tried to get off of it yet.... I'm sure there will be wds... but to me my life is worth more than me being sick for a few weeks when I do decide to come off of it. K? Again... try meetings and everything that you can but it IS an option. Sorry, Michelle --- I just had to get that in. You know how I feel about that. People who have committed suicide and/or accidentally overdosed from opiates because they thought there was no way out - there is! And I want to ensure people know that. If Sub was around w/my mother... she might still be here and she would have been able to meet her grandchildren. It's so sad... my kids ask me all of the time "Now what was your mom's name again?"... Breaks my heart and I miss her!

I'm glad you are doing well and just don't worry about xanax. Unless you are wanting to be completely drug free... then start a tapering schedule under your doctor's advice. K? Take care - and I'm sorry.... I'm not having a very good day today. Just in a REALLY bad mood... but no crying, just in a bad mood!

Re: Day 6- some advice on Xanax?

Just some drug info...

Trazodone isnt a safe drug, It's base use was for cocaine withdrawal short term and causes the same side effects, in men priapism, im woman, menstruation problems. Overal, Remeron was picked as the better drug...

If your practitioner didnt tell you this, someone mentioned you were taking nuerontin? It's generic name is (gabapentin) so it works on the brain very partial as xanax does. Dont abruptly stop taking this drug because you're going to one confused individual, not knowing why the way you feel and what caused it. Neurontin withdrawal will make you feel very anxious.

Lisa, good advise.

ToF, I have never heard or seen what you say about Trazadone. Granted, I only took it for 5 days, so I am not that worried, but it my understanding that its base use is depression. Can you elaborate and source as to why it is unsafe?

Trazodone is a classified Antidepressant but "A" typical, It's VERY sedating. 5 days seems right I was talking prolonged use. "It's cheap".... that's the only advantage of it. Remeron now has a generic (Mirtazapine) so it's not over expensive, it doesnt cause unwated side effects, like what i mentioned above, it doesnt tear up your stomach so you can take it w/o food and it can be used prolonged. You take it at night, it puts your butt right to sleep, calms you down, and doesnt give you that hang over feeling trazodone does but stabilizes your mood during the next day. If you want to know my credentials LOL , I was blew my pharmacology degree by digging in the cookie jar, hence im a loser.... but I never stood astray from the other "practitioners" that were more productive.

Re: Day 6- some advice on Xanax?

X - I haven't either. My doc wanted me to take it for headaches and becuase of some of the side effects. Or maybe I'm getting this drug confused... but I believe it was trazadone. Anyway, I would like to know additional info if you have any... Cade.

By the way Cade, how are you doing?
X - what's up?
I'm going out tonight --- want to sing SO badly.... might do it with the band. They let me last week and i had a blast. I'm losing a tad bit of weight (and I mean a TAD) so even that makes a big difference in my self esteem.
