Theophyllene Question

I am about to start taking 300mg of Theo-24 once per day at bedtime. Why is it taken at bedtime and not in the morning? Does it really matter? Also, should it be taken with or without food?

thanks

Re: Theophyllene Question

Theophylline is considered a nighttime drug because it is a long acting bronchodilator. U are actually not supposed to eat anything around the time u take it because the food might interfere with the special coating of the tablet.

Just some Q's:

What country are u in?

Would u consider ur asthma to be out of control and severe?

What existing meds are u on?

Re: Theophyllene Question

I live in the southern US. I'm 37 years old and was just recently diagnosed. I have never had an asthma attack but I get short of breath with exertion. My Fev1 has been holding steady at around 58-60% of predicted. I am currently on Advair 250/50, Singulair, Prevacid, albuterol (as needed) and now about to be on Theophyllene.

Thanks for your response. I assume that I could take in in the A.M. since I usually don't eat breakfast.

Most asthmatics take it in the evening as the night time is when their symptoms are the worst, I would take it as your Dr has advised you.

Re: Theophyllene Question

Thanks for your reply Blue. I kind of thought that may be the reason. My case is a little different in that my wheezing is mostly present in the mornings. I guess it still makes since to take it at bedtime to prevent the morning tightness.

thanks again
