Re: SUn SpoTs

Excellent, thanks, that's what I wanted to know.

What is the difference of the action between Renova & Differin?
Also, what strength of Glycolic you are using for this? Up to this point I have been using 50%.

Thanks,
Donna

Re: SUn SpoTs

Renova treats dark spots on the skin, helps diminish fine wrinkles, & smooths surface roughness.

Differin helps keep pores clear to control breakouts.

I use 30% glycolic acid for the peels & I spot treat any problems areas with 50%.

Re: SUn SpoTs

Hello To All,

My eyes have been opened to what the sun can do to your face, I DARE YOU TO TRY THIS......if you have a black light at home, take it in a dark room of your house, turn the lights out and turn the black light on and hold it close to your face, if you have any sun damage or estrogen damage you will not be able to miss it. I looked like a monster. I was even afraid to go into the glow in the dark putt putt golf coarse at the mall, because of all of the black lights, I didn't want to freak the kids out. ANYWAY.......

I have dark patches on my face from sun, and being on the higher strength of Estratest or estrogen for about 5 years now, and finally my doctor switched me to something with alot lower doage. And I have also done the bleaching creams from over the counter to scripts from my doctor and it does lighten somewhat, but still not the results that I was looking for. I have also been done the road of the series of glycolic peels 30% and it did make my skin smooth but didn't touch the dark spots...it isn't worth my money, it didn't give me the results I wanted. I have done the microdermabrasion and it didn't work for me either, because it deals only with the surface area of the face. So after all the bleaching and other stuff I have tried.....I have an appt. Friday to have a Jessners Facial Peel, it is a medium peel it deals with way more then just the surface of the skin, it goes deeper. I am really excited but yet nervous about it. I am telling you if you do decide to have these peels done research it and ask alot of questions, find out what kind of peel your getting, ask what is in it, and how deep it goes, ask if it only deals with the surface of the skin, no what your getting before you give them your money. But in my situation it didn't help me. This is from the paper from my doctors office.

Jessner's solution is a peeling agent that can be used to lighten areas of hyperpigmentation and to treat aged, sun-damaged skin, it also treats clogged pores, thickened, aging skin, severe acne, and environmentally damaged skin. It can improve upon such skin problems as brown discoloration and blemishes, acne, fine wrinkles, and sun damaged and weathered skin. Unlike some chemical peels, the Jessner peel penetrates more deeply into the layers of the skin. I copied this from the paper that the doctors officed gave to me today. I would love to have the photo facial but the cost is about $2000.00 and I don't have that right now. But I am willing to spend $110.00 for 1 treatment of the Jessners peel. Will let you know how it turns out. Would be nice if we could post before and after pics on here. Well there is my 50 cents worth....will keep you updated...Thanks

Re: SUn SpoTs

I have a word of advise having been through the laser resurfacing. I am kinda dark skinned compared to some white women in saying that what I mean is I usually look like I have a light tan year around. In 2000 I went in for laser resurfacing of the whole face at 46 I have suffered from breakouts since I was 15 and my skin is very scarred from it. Well, I still have breakouts and have been to every kind of Doc there is. Back to the resurfacing, I went to a plastic surgeon who has been in business as long as I can remember. He agreed to do my entire face for $1000. That should have been a red flag. I ask to see before and after pictures but he said he didnt have any that most women didnt want to be involved with it. After my proceedure which was very painful I had to sleep in a recliner for 7 days so that the fluid wouldnt settle in my face which it did sometimes anyway and the skin between my eyes and brows would be so full I couldnt see for a while. The crusting was awful but I was willing to do any amount of suffering to get rid of some of the scars I also had scars from being beat by an abusive husband. My face stayed blood red for about 14 weeks. But I thought it looked beautiful and smooth. About a year later you could see the problem my face didnt match the rest of my skin and the scars now looked worst. I went to another plastic surgeon last year to see if we could do something but right now I cant afford the cost. But he said my face should have NEVER been touched with a laser because I was too dark skinned. I use makeup to try and even things out now. Just be careful....I know I would do just about anything to have a better looking complextion and I dont care if people think Im vain. Its a proven fact that when you think you look good that you feel better physically...God Bless

Oh a dark light, I never thought of that!!! I went off the pill over a year ago hoping my dark patches would go away and they didn't!!!! I have tried all sorts of products too and nothing works. My Dr. told me nothing really will be I refuse to believe there is nothing out there to lighten these. My face is a different color than my neck its just awful.
