I am not an expert on the subject, only know what I have been told by doctors, maybe someone can explain it better...but what I was told is that cortisone is a steroid type of med, that they do not like to use a lot, because over time, it can contribute to bone loss and damage, and perhaps even joint dysfunction.....I have heard where these shots benefit people, but I have heard where others don't find any relief....I have questions too about when is the best time to use cortisone....for instance, does it work best when injected into a joint? or a muscle? I had a trigger point injection last week into the buttock muscle, it did hurt worse for a few days...and then it let up a little...but it sort of went back ...so I don't suppose I am going to get another one unless I see some major improvements from this....the idea of injecting it in the muscle was to relax the spasms according to the dr.....I just hope it works...
